Winter's Approach
Viewed rolling rumble displayed in eerie silence,
billowing darkness stretched across the sky
Season's bleakness announced by converging clouds,
upon cast shadows arrives wind's chilling sigh
Swept by gales, the last crumbling leaves fall;
autumn's final colors shed with season's end
Awakened comes winter from its long dormant wait;
swirling adrift, a scattering of snowflakes descend
White glistening patterns trickling through air,
gathered, they cling to the barren branching trees
Magically transformed with sheen of sprinkled ice,
crystalline landscapes emerge from the snow filled breeze
Beneath the dismal surge of stormy gray,
followed quiescent breath creates a scenic land
From the frozen mist a new world is born;
a dreamed winter wonderment viewed firsthand
